MANILA - Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile on Wednesday lashed back at his political nemesis, Sen, Miriam Defensor Santiago.
In his privilege speech, Enrile called Santiago a bitter and obsessive hater full of inanities.
"This former judge does not seem to understand the meaning of due process...Due process means you hear first the evidence before you condemn. A parrot can memorize legal principles, but cannot apply them," he said.
He denied Santiago's accusation that he carries firearms even inside the restroom, saying that he only carries a fly swatter.
He also ridiculed Santiago's pick-up lines and said the lady senator nearly flunked the Bar exam.
He also reminded the public that Santiago used to see a psychiatrist.
Enrile lamented that the Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on the pork barrel scam turned into an occasion to attack him. He denied being the mastermind of the scam.
