Man commits suicide after too much shopping

Unable to stand his girlfriend's marathon shopping, a 38-year-old man decided to end it all by jumping seven stories to his death in a mall in China, a UK news site reported late Monday.
Tao Hsiao, 38, snapped when his girlfriend, who had been shopping for more than five hours, insisted on going to another shop, UK's The Daily Mail reported.
"This is a tragic incident, but this time of year can be very stressful for many people," the site quoted a shopping spokesman as saying.
The deadly shopping incident occurred in Jiangsu province in east China, the report said.
It quoted eyewitnesses as saying Tao had an argument with his girlfriend after following her around the shopping mall for five hours.
He was heard saying they had more bags than they could carry, yet the girlfriend insisted on going into one more shop supposedly having an offer for shoes.
One of the eyewitnesses said that when Tao told his girlfriend she had "more shoes that she could wear in a
lifetime and it was pointless buying any more," the girl shouted at him and accused him of "spoiling Christmas."
The report said Tao then ended it all when he threw the bags on the floor and jumped over the balcony.
Several shoppers who saw the scene panicked and fled. Tao was killed instantly, the report said.
"His body was removed fairly quickly," said a shopping spokesman.
The spokesman added Tao landed on one of the stalls below and then fell to the floor, but did not hit anybody. — TJD, GMA News
