Co arrested while partying at BGC
MANILA – (UPDATED) Former Pagadian Mayor Samuel Co and his wife have been arrested in Manila, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed.
The Co couple was arrested on Saturday afternoon following a surveillance operation of the NBI.
An NBI source said Co was nabbed while he was attending a Christmas party at a unit at the Serendra condominium at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
The two are currently under the custody of the NBI at its headquarters in Taft Avenue, Manila.
Justice Secretary Leila de Lima will hold a press conference on Monday to present the Co couple.
The NBI has been searching for Co after a regional trial court issued an arrest warrant in connection with his alleged involvement in the Aman Futures investment scam. The former mayor is facing syndicated estafa charges.
The NBI, meanwhile, said Aman Futures founder Manuel Amalilio is still at large and government authorities are still searching for him in Malaysia. – from a report by Ricky Velasco, dzMM
