MANILA - The Department of Health (DOH) released on Saturday a list of most dangerous barangays that registered the highest number of firecracker-related injuries over a 3-year period.
On his Twitter account, DOH Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag said the list is based on the DOH 2010-2012 reports of greatest number of injuries.
The DOH listed the most dangerous barangays in seven cities in Metro Manila.
Quezon City:
1) Batasan Hills
1) Commonwealth
3) Holy Spirit

5) Sto. Domingo
6) Krus Na Ligas
Manila:
1) District 2 Brgy 147-267 East Tondo
2) District 1 Brgy 1-146 West Tondo

Meanwhile, the DOH said Malabon, Caloocan, Makati, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pateros, San Juan, Taguig remain safe as no barangays are under this list.
As of 6 a.m. on Saturday, Tayag said injuries related to firecrackers were at 170.
"Kanina nilabas na namin yung report, 164 dito dahil sa firework injury, paputok, kapareho yan nung isang taon kaya lang mas mataas ngayon taon sapagkat may lima na tayong stray bullet at dalawa na nga yung may amputation na-report na natin kahapon yan," Tayag said.
He added that concerned citizens continue to report areas where banned firecrackers are still being sold.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) encouraged consumers to only buy firecrackers from licensed manufacturers.
"Ang role ng DTI dito is to ensure that fireworks and firecrackers available in the market contain PS (Philippine Standard) certification mark license," said Engineer Mario Gaudenciano of the DTI's Standards Certification Division.
He likewise reminded that the law prohibits the sale of imported fireworks.
So far, Gaudenciano said that DTI has certified 14 fireworks and firecrackers brands as of November 15, 2013, namely:

L.F. Fireworks
MADZ Fire Crackers and Phyrotechnics
Mary P Diaresco Pyrotechnics Manufacturing
