Microsoft's Socl social network goes mobile

Microsoft has quietly ported Socl, its version of a social network, to the mobile world via an app for various platforms—including its own Windows Phone platform, of course.
Windows Phone enthusiast site WMPowerUser.com said the app promises to bring "fun" experiences, from visual collages to animated media and memes, that can be shared with people worldwide.
It said a description of the app on the Windows Phone Market said users can avail of the following features:
Create collages and funny memes in seconds. Share your creations on Socl, as well as your other favorite social networks. Create visual responses (“riffs”) to existing content. Snap a picture and share it on Socl. Receive notifications about community activity on the content you love
A separate report on The Next Web said Microsoft Research launched Socl for Android and iOS as well.
"Socl was first created purely as a research project, but Microsoft has been adding features to it and tweaking it for years. Now the social experiment has finally been ported from desktop to mobile, as first spotted by WMPoweruser," it said.
It added the mobile app is "largely the same across the three mobile platforms."
"Given that the trio was released simultaneously, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that the feature list is identical for all three," it added. — TJD, GMA News
