JC de Vera remarked that he was truly shocked with the passing of hisThe Legal Wife co-actor Mark Gil."Kasi parang ang isang napakagaling na aktor at artista nawala sa industry at isang napakagaling na kumbaga di ba for a short time na nakasama ko siya sa The Legal Wife marami akong napulot sa kanya," he said.

JC stated that he has learned numerous life lessons from the veteran actor. "Marami siyang words of wisdom na nai-share sa akin for that short span of time.” He shared that Mark was truly endearing hence everyone loved him on the set of their soap. "Masarap siyang kausap, playful, kaya siguro madali siyang nakakasundo ng mga tao kasi very lovable, very cool kasi," JC relayed.

On the most important life advice that he acquired from Mark, JC shared, "Kailangan mo mag-enjoy, coming from him na nakita ko na kung papaano siya, itinatawa lang niya lahat ng bagay, ang sabi niya sa akin, ‘Hindi ka dapat mag-hold back," he said. JC said that he will be missing the veteran actor.

Mark Gil passed away on September 1, 2014 because of cancer. According to his family in a joint statement, the veteran actor was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2012. Mark opted to keep his condition secret to the public.

"We, the Eigenmann Family, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everybody who has shown their concern for Ralph (Mark Gil’s real name) these past few weeks. It is with much sorrow that we announce that he passed away this morning at exactly 8 am. He died peacefully in his sleep in the arms of his wife, Maricar, and surrounded by family. Ralph was first diagnosed with liver cancer two years ago, but it was only in June of this year that he found out that it was terminal. It was Ralph’s request that this should not be revealed, and we did not question his decision. To those who have asked us about his condition, especially his colleagues, the press and fans, we apologize for not being forthright, but we also ask for understanding,” the joint statement said.

The family relayed that Mark had spent his last days peacefully in the presence of his loved ones. “We would, however, like everyone to know that he spent his last days in comfort and in no pain. In fact, he was in good spirits and humor, and enjoying the presence of his entire family. Even then, he was still bringing us together, as he always has, and we are now all complete. Until the very end, he was a warrior. Ralph faced death with courage and grace, while still bringing laughter to the room. That was his gift: the ability to make those around him better.”
