MANILA – James Reid does not get bothered that he and Nadine Lustre always get compared to teen stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo.
In fact, the “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash” big winner said he is looking forward to working with the two stars, although he admitted that there are no discussions yet for a possible joint project.
“Definitely, I would love to. I think that would be a hit,” Reid said.
Noting that comparisons are just normal in showbiz, he added: “I think ever since we started, they’ve been comparing us with KathNiel. But it hasn’t affected us so far. I worked with Kathryn on 'Shoutout' a long time ago, three years ago. Daniel, I’ve met him before. Lately no, not yet.”
Asked if he feels that there is a growing tension between him and Lustre and the ‘KathNiel’ love team, the Filipino-Australian actor just said: “No, there’s none. I’m sure walang tension.”
Last month, Reid and Lustre signed a contract with ABS-CBN, which includes several projects including a TV series as well as albums.
Just recently, it was revealed that the two will star in the upcoming series "My App Boyfie," which is based on the Wattpad series by Noreen Capili. It is about an app that allows a user to create her ideal boyfriend.
“Ito talaga ang gusto kong gawin -- acting, singing, performing. I don’t feel any pressure [with with upcoming series]. We are both really excited to start. It’s on Channel 2,” Reid said.
"My App Boyfie" marks the third time Lustre and Reid will star in a project based on a Wattpad novel. "Diary ng Panget," their launching movie, and "Talk Back and You're Dead" both have source materials from the online writing community.
