MANILA - Malacanang again sought for understanding and cooperation as government agencies seek to resolve the traffic woes that have been frustrating commuters for days now, specifically at the North Luzon Expressway.
He also asked the understanding of the business sector amid the traffic’s effects on commerce.
MMDA's Tolentino earlier blamed the gridlock at the NLEX on the heavy volume of cargo trucks getting their container vans out of the Port of Manila., with the barely moving traffic stretching out at point to nine kilometers.
During the meeting of the Task Force Pantalan on Saturday, it was agreed upon that the MMDA shall take over the traffic management of all roads in several parts of Metro Manila adversely affected by the port traffic.
Effective immediately until September 21, all Class A and D vehicles, including shuttle buses, will be allowed to counterflow in NLEX, while the Balintawak toll plaza will be temporarily closed to give way to private vehicles.
A counterflow traffic scheme will also be allowed at Del Pan Bridge in Tondo, Manila to hasten the flow of trucks and trailer vans.
Two lanes along R-10 road spanning the cities of Navotas, Caloocan and Manila will now be opened to trucks.
